[gnet] g_io_add_watch_full() with a GTK main loop?

has anyone been successfull at doing this?
can anyone give me some pointers?

I am trying to use a gtk_main().  I create the GTcpSocket and then start it
connecting (asynchronously) then create a simple window.  The window is
fine, but the socket never comes back?! If I use the  g_main_() functions to
use the glib main loop, it is all fine.
