[glade--]Re: Glade-- - Gnome2 support

Hi,
Hi,

[sigh, mozilla took my first letter with it when it crashed, second try]

I'm interested in using glade--, but Gnome 2 support doesn't
seem to be there yet. I checked out the latest from
Correct.
anoncvs.gnome.org - are these the latest sources?

[aside from the several hours lag of anoncvs compared to cvs.gnome.org] yes, they are.

If Gnome 2 support is coming soon I can save myself some work.
But just to let you known that I have started to do some
hacking on it myself... I probably don't have time for more
than an occasional patch, but here is what I have so far:

I added a "gnome_version" field to Configuration, which is
now hardcoded to 2. I don't know how to set this correctly,
it probably needs another flag in the glade file (of course
by the time this is finished probably everyone will be using
Gnome 2 anyway). I added some switch() statements on this
field, which affect various bits of code generation. For
Gnome 2 I use the standard gnome-autogen.sh, include macros from
gnome-common rather than copying from glade/gnome (there
is no such directory in glade2), etc, etc.

Good news. I really learned to suffer from gnome1's undocumented autoconf setup.

It's not all working yet, but I am beginning to find my
way around glade--, and hopefully I'll eventually move
everything to the right place (I defined Gnome_IncludeDir
in WriterBase.cc, I just now realize it should probably
be in Naming.cc?)

I'll look for the right place anyway.

Thank you for sharing your patches. I'll look more deeply into them lateron, but wanted to reply quickly.

Yours
   Christof

PS: I'll send some notes about gnome2 support to you I sent to another person. Separately to not overstress my luck with mozillas editor.
PPS: Personally I don't have any need for gnome support, yet.
