You can find some info about developing gedit on the developers page on
www.gedit.org and on the wiki page http://live.gnome.org/Gedit 

The code is hosted on gnome cvs repository, cvs.gnome.org (see
http://developer.gnome.org/tools/cvs.html)

You are also more than welcome to join the #gedit irc channel on
irc.gnome.org so that we (if we are online) can answer your questions
more easily.
