Hi Steve,
I'm the new mantainer of gedit.
I'm working (with the help of snorp) on the gnome2 port of gedit.
You can see it on gnome CVS or take it from ftp.gnome.org.

In these days I'm a bit busy (I have to finish my PhD thesis before 
monday)... but in the next future I will be happy to discuss with you 
about the gedit web site.
