Dear Richard,
	thanks for your suggestion and your compliments. 

I know that the problem you have reported is a little but
annoying gedit's problem.

In the future, we certainly will put the current cursor position
on the status line.
But for now, due to some limitations of the text widget we are
currently using, the feature
you suggested is not so easy to implement.
