It fails because glib.h (and most likely glib itself) is not found.

Make sure you have glib installed on your system. If it still fails, see
./configure --help and try some of those glib options.

I don't know about using gmake (maybe it is the same as make on GNU
systems?)...make sure your ./configure script run was successful, and glib
was found.
