Sorry, I don't get it. If you uncomment the line with the unref, then you
are unref-ing the same node twice! No wonder you get in troubles. Or was
the program supposed to segfault without touching it? In that case it
works for me => no segfault (but I admit I have a slightly different
system configuration).

Also,you are using tmpnode _after_ you have unreferenced it, when you call
treegc_livenodes. In some cases you might be lucky, but in general it is a
very bad idea.
