Strange behaviour at shutdown

Hi,

When I shut down my system from the graphical greeter, gdm doesn't ask 
anything and does what it should do.
When I shut down my system from the standard greeter, gdm asks for a 
rootpassword and then does what it should do.
Why is that? Not that I think that's a bug or something, but I do think 
it's a little bit strange.
