Actually the patch seems to do a lot more then that, I suppose this may be
coming from the standard debian patches.  Could you do the patch against
a debianized version of the sources and provide a detailed changelog
of what you changed?

This means I haven't really looked at it since it's VERY long.  I suppose
your changes are only in the greeter?

You could also try to modify a stock copy rather then debianized copy.
