help this issue.  It's again a crude hack, but not as crude as launching
something from PAM.  The translation issue mentioned in that bug would only
be a problem if you're only trying to use off the shelf PAM modules that
actually translate these questions.  If you control the PAM module, then
you can just make the query be whatever you want to and make it
non-translated.  This is the only way I can see to do this cleanly.
This could obviously be extended to some random widgets placed on the
canvas in the graphical greeter.

For the launching from PAM idea (which is actually a good interim idea), you
should get the DISPLAY var from the PAM_TTY, and you need to set the
XAUTHORITY to /var/gdm/:0.Xauth (obviously replacing :0 with the value of
DISPLAY).
