gdm configuration problem

Hi -

I could not find documentation, so I have to ask. I installed gdm for gnome 2.2, configured it with the graphical interface (very nice!) and edited the inittab. After new start I got a message that Authdir /opt/gnome/var/gdm shall not exist. Actually, it exists. What must I do?
