Hello,
My gnome2 config was working fine on my laptop, and suddenly since
this morning it doesn't start anymore. So i tried starting gnome apps
from an xterm, with no success. gconfd-2 is running and eats up lots of
resources (top shows a continuously increasing memory usage), but the
app itself doesn't start.
Here is the system info :
[desrefa l-at6122 desrefa]$ ps jaxwww | grep gconf
1 4698 4694 4320 pts/0 4705 D 1696 0:17
/usr/local/libexec/gconfd-2 11
4320 4706 4705 4320 pts/0 4705 S 1696 0:00 grep gconf
gconf-sanity-check-2 doesn't produce any output.
Syslog ouput (in user.log) :
Sep 10 13:05:17 l-at6122 gconfd (desrefa-4698): starting (version
1.2.1), pid 4698 user 'desrefa'
Sep 10 13:05:17 l-at6122 gconfd (desrefa-4698): Resolved address
"xml:readonly:/usr/local/etc/gconf/gconf.xml.mandatory" to a read-only
config source at position 0
Sep 10 13:05:17 l-at6122 gconfd (desrefa-4698): Resolved address
"xml:readwrite:/home/desrefa/.gconf" to a writable config source at
position 1
Sep 10 13:05:17 l-at6122 gconfd (desrefa-4698): Resolved address
"xml:readonly:/usr/local/etc/gconf/gconf.xml.defaults" to a read-only
config source at position 2
i'm using mandrake 8.2 with a custom 2.4.18 kernel (some laptop specific
patches applied)
Thanks for any help,
Fabrice
