Clarification required on gconf_client_suggest_sync usage

Hi

I could not find much information on what gconf_client_suggest_sync()
does. So, when I looked up gconf.c I saw the comment which says that
gconf_client_suggest_sync() is required for local sources. The
gconf-client.h says that even though setters return TRUE, you still
should suggest a sync.

While going through the mailing list I saw a reference to
gconf_client_suggest_sync() saying that we should not use it as it makes
gconf very slow.

Could anyone please clarify on what exactly it does and should we use it
or not.

Any help on this is very much appreciated.

Thanks
Deepa
