Hi,
Your operating system is probably misconfigured. File locking should
work over NFS by default in most recent Linux distributions, and most
recent proprietary UNIX as well, AFAIK.
If you don't have processes called rpc.statd and/or rpc.lockd, that
means NFS locking is probably not set up correctly.
