I did some early GUI prototypes (just mockups, no code) for this a few
months ago-- although I'm not sure which of these Tomas ended up basing
his prototype on because I haven't seen it yet!

Anyway, you can see my prototypes at
http://canvas.gnome.org/~gman/GConf/index.html -- for my money, #5 and
#6 have the most potential to be workable designs, but they all have
usability problems of one kind or another so more thought is certainly
required.
