I typed 'script' after untarring your attachment in /home/ddnext/garnome-2.12.0/platform and before 'make clean;make install' in /home/ddnext/garnome-2.12.0/platform/pango.  I got:
a long long output typescript.  I posted the beginning and the end

I am very close to giving up... might take a couple of days away from it.  I know I don't need 2.12, but it would be nice.
