Dear Mohindar,

When cairo was configured did it compile with png support, you can check this when cairo runs it configure. At the end of configure it will give you feedback on what options will be built. If not add the location where libpng.pc and libpng12.pc can be found to PKG_CONFIG_PATH in gar.conf.mk and rebuild cairo.
