Finished building the desktop.
Discussion:
-----------
* HAL & DBUS
YDL-4 provides DBUS-0.22, but not HAL. Versions of HAL prior to 0.4.6 do
*not* work on a PPC running YDL-4. Garnome-2.10.0 provides HAL-0.2.98.
I believe it would be safe to update garnome to HAL-0.4.7. The HAL 0.4.x
branch works with linux kernels as early as 2.6.8 and with udev/hotplug.
I have successfully used HAL-0.4.7 with a linux 2.6.10 kernel, udev-024,
and MAKEDEV-3.3.
I would not recommend updating garnome to HAL-0.5.0. The HAL 0.5.x
branch requires a linux kernel 2.7.10, udev 50, and using /sbin/udevsend
as the hotplug multipexer/helper.
One small issue... It is necessary to rebuild DBUS to add the
mono-bindings to build beagle.
* gnome-system-monitor
As reported by Bob and Beniot... Remove the patch from the makefile.
* firefox /epiphany
YDL-4 ships with mozilla-1.7.3, which is sufficient to build epiphany.
This time around I let garnome build firefox, which worked.
I puzzled over the contents of mozconfig-firefox. I believe that some
of the "disable" statements may be unnecessary. Firefox is pretty good
at determining what your system does and does not have.
Onwards to bindings...
