Garnome built, execution fails.

Just got very-possibly-if-we-are-lucky-close-to-2.10.0 built and
installed, but all gnome/gtk apps in it fail. They'll pop up windows
with buttons and menus, but no text. Almost instantly, they die, with
the following message:

> atrus agaeris:~$ gedit

> Gdk-ERROR **: The program 'gedit' received an X Window System error.
> This probably reflects a bug in the program.
> The error was 'RenderBadPicture (invalid Picture parameter)'.

Debian sid+experimental + X.Org version: 6.8.2
Tried installing bootstrap's fontconfig, xft, and xrender, no
difference.

Any and all suggestions welcomed.
