XFree86 4.x test: revisited

* updated from CVS: cairo & libpixman
- cairo update included patch referenced below
- no changes to libpixman

* install pango-1.9.0
	- build pango-1.9.0
        - uninstall pango-1.8.1
        - install pango-1.9.0

* install GTK+-2.7.0
	- build gtk+-2.7.0
        - uninstall gtk+-2.6.8
        - install gtk+-2.7.0

* log out completely
[I use command line login: init = 3

* login / startx

==> desktop weirdness
* multiple images on desktop

* color map is broken
- gray background is now light purple
- background color selector shows the correct color.
something is amiss with whatever sets the background color

Conclusion:
* Upgrading cairo alone is not sufficient to run GTK+-2.7.0 under
Xfree-4.x.
