cairo-0.5.1 / gtk+-2.7.x / evince-0.3.2 rendering issues

The latest branch of gtk+/glib/pango, which uses the cairo rendering
engine, has some issues. evince-0.3.2, linked against these libraries,
has problems rendering certain, but not all, PDF and PS files.

When there is a "problem", text and line-art are drawn in the background
color, rendering them invisible.

Clicking on

	menu->edit->Select ALL

shows the text/line-art is there, albeit rendered in the background
color. Evince is also able to print the "invisible" contents
correctly.

The following make provide a hint:

        % evince NVP_Membership_Application_2005.pdf

        ** (evince:21749): WARNING **: Starting evince process.

        (evince:21749): Gdk-CRITICAL **: gdk_drawable_get_size:
        assertion `GDK_IS_DRAWABLE (drawable)' failed

        (evince:21749): Gdk-CRITICAL **: gdk_window_get_position:
        assertion `GDK_IS_WINDOW (window)' failed

Note that the stable branch, 2.10.1, does not have this problem.

Life in the fast lane...
