I did...  Unfortunately, I specified both /opt/garnome/etc/xdg
and /etc/xdg in my garnome-session startup file:

	XDG_CONFIG_DIRS=$GARNOME/etc/xdg:/etc/xdg

which is why I had to manually *hide* /etc/xdg [duuuhhh!!!]

Removing /etc/xdg from XDG_CONFIG_DIRS stops the flash-and-vanish
behavior *provided* I hide the local menu control file directories

	~/.config
	~/.local

that I painstakingly constructed to eliminate duplicate menu entries
from the GNOME-2.6 installation rooted under /usr.

OK... Now I need to figure out what is wrong with the local menu control
files. Fun and games when the menu spec being a moving target.

A popular curse in Chinese is, "May you live in interesting times." For
gnome-menus, these are interesting times...
