Seems, you are missing the X extension devel files. On my distro it's in
libxfree86-devel, but as you are running debian, it will be something
like *-dev.
Looking at the README [1], I'd guess it's named xlibs-dev.
hmm. xlibs-dev is installed already (Version: 4.3.0.dfsg.1-12)... Any other thoughts here?
