Much as described in http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=136539,
child-test hangs.  However, it's not really the same thing here.

When running tests, it's only the first child that exits:

adbjsjn lilith:glib-2.3.6/tests>./child-test 
child 10295 (ttl 10) exited, status 0


A "ps" from another x-terminal:
