No, it's pretty straightforward.  I always add GtkSpell as a Pan  
dependency, and it works just fine.  Just make a directory with  
apropriate 'Makefile' and 'checksums' files, and then either build it  
first or get fancy and add the dependency to the dependent package's  
Makefile.
