Same here, I kept a nice little list of all the things that went wrong
on this newly installed stock bare minimum slackware 9.1 and now I can
throw it away apart from 1 I think.

After applying the patch to mozilla 1.5 (yes I do compile it) and
building evolution-1.5 with --enable-nss=yes, evolution would not find
the nss libraries. I had to add the directory :/opt/garnome-0.30.1/lib/
mozilla-1.5 to the LD_LIBRARY_PATH.
Then it worked like a charm.
