make makesums after make

Hi
I've built my system after some small hacking and now I'de like to
instaled in my laptop. Is there a way of cleaning the work directories
whithout deleting the downloaded files and chechsums ?
How can I go back to the state of make makesums after building the
system ? is it possible ?
BTW: Congratulations, the 2.4 is working fine and looks very stable
until now.
