Just read the original mail again. The problem isn't with hotapplet,
it's libgnomeui. It might be the same cause, though, but I've never seen
it with libgnomeui. 

Maybe try going to the libgnomeui dir, run 'make clean', then 'make
install'. If it fails, post the entire log from that run.
