Try changing line 4761 of
gnome/grandr_applet/work/main.d/grandr_applet-0.2/configure
to read
ALL_X_LIBS="$X_LIBS $X_PRE_LIBS -lX11 -lXext $X_EXTRA_LIBS"

(ie, add -lXext)
