I agree. Trying to compile on Redhat 7.3 has been difficult. I've had to manually modify several files to fix compilation errors due to variables being declared after code is executed. I can't remember all the particular files, but gtksourceview.c is one for sure.

I think you're getting this because you're using gcc 2.95. I get the
same with 2.95, but not with 3.0.

Jeff, it might be useful to list a minimum version of 3.9 for gcc on the
web page. vte doesn't compile with 2.95 either.
