tiny tiny fonts

I have tried garnome 0.22.0 and it is unusable because the fonts are so tiny as
to be unreadable.  I tried what corrections I have found on this list. At first
I had no fonts at all but after
"pango-querymodules>~/garnome/etc/pango/pango.modules"
I got fonts, but too small to read.
