Basic Garnome-0.21.2 gnome-desktop installation OK on RHT8.0, but the rest causes errors while compiling

Hi,
Finally maybe I found what I was looking for i.e. Garnome :) The basic
setup on my RedHat 8.0 needed only 2 additional files to be installed
i.e.
libbz2-1.0.2-3cl.i386.rpm
libbz2-devel-1.0.2-3cl.i386.rpm
which I found on http://fr2.rpmfind.net
and which is the most important - didn't spoil anything - at least I'm not aware yet :)
1)
Unfortunatelly, I'm starting toi have complilation errors with the rest of the files. I started
with meta/gnome-fifth-toe and it has problems with magidev due to change of file version on redhat. so I changed Makefile to the version which is there, then I had checksum errors. Thanks to that, reading the archives I learned how to achievie new ones but unfortunatelly even though the checksums are ok I get the following error [Bład]:

[===== NOW BUILDING:    magicdev-1.1.4  =====]
        [fetch] complete for magicdev.
        [checksum] complete for magicdev.
 ==> Extracting download/magicdev-1.1.4-2.src.rpm
Error: header not recognized
cpio: premature end of archive
make: *** [extract-magicdev-1.1.4-2.src.rpm] Błąd 1

I also get "Error: header not recognized" while redhat-artwork complilation. what should I do?

2)
While make install gnome/pan I get this error [Błąd]:

make[3]: Opuszczam katalog `/home/piotr/.garnome-0.21.2/gnome/gtkspell/work/main.d/gtkspell-2.0.0/gtkspell'
make[2]: *** [all-recursive] Błąd 1
make[2]: Opuszczam katalog `/home/piotr/.garnome-0.21.2/gnome/gtkspell/work/main.d/gtkspell-2.0.0'
make[1]: *** [build-work/main.d/gtkspell-2.0.0/Makefile] Błąd 2
make[1]: Opuszczam katalog `/home/piotr/.garnome-0.21.2/gnome/gtkspell'
make: *** [../../gnome/gtkspell/cookies/main.d/install] Błąd 2

3)
How do I keep up-to-date with this Garnome tool in the future?
4)
Can I make rpms out of that too? so taht for expample after testing in garnome I install it on the main system and not on my home?

best regards
