If you haven't had sound before Garnome is not going to fix that. What patch are you talking about to get it to work? I don't know of any patch that makes sound magically work. Also, you are a newbie? Garnome is for developers/testers; specifically not for people not familiar with the inherent problems with unstable software. If it is broken, find out why, and let someone know why.
