Red Hat 9 garnome build SUCCESS

Success!

My first build of garnome. I want to thank all who offered help.

Here are some details on how I got it to build on a fresh Red Hat 9 system:

1. First, I installed Red Hat 9 without the Gnome package. I installed
basically a minimal system, with no gnome, and only some standard
development packages and some standard utilities.

2. I then downloaded from
http://ftp.redhat.com/pub/redhat/linux/rawhide/i386/RedHat/RPMS/ the
following RPMS to a single directory:

bzip2-1.0.2-10.i386.rpm
bzip2-devel-1.0.2-10.i386.rpm
bzip2-libs-1.0.2-10.i386.rpm
docbook-dtds-1.0-22.1.noarch.rpm
openjade-1.3.2-6.i386.rpm
pcre4.2-2.i386.rpm

3. Then, as root, I changed to that directory and I did an "rpm -Fvh
*.rpm".

4. Then, from the same ftp site from above, I downloaded the following RPMS
to a new directory:

docbook-style-dsssl-1.78-2.noarch.rpm
docbook-style-xsl-1.61.2-2.1.noarch.rpm
docbook-utils-0.6.13-7.noarch.rpm
elinks-0.4.2-7.1.i386.rpm
openh323-1.12.0-2.i386.rpm
open323-devel-1.12.0-2.i386.rpm
openjade-devel-1.3.2-6.i386.rpm
pcre-devel-4.2-2.i386.rpm
perl-SGMLSpm-1.03ii-12.noarch.rpm
pwlib-1.5.0-2.i386.rpm
pwlib-devel-1.5.0-2.i386.rpm
tetex-2.0.2-8.i386.rpm
tetex-dvips-2.0.2-8.i386.rpm
tetex-fonts-2.0.2-8.i386.rpm

5. Then, as roots, I changed to that directory and did an "rpm -ivh *.rpm".

After that, I extracted and compiled garnome 0.25.1. And it was a success!

The only question I have now is how to start the thing. I tried adding an
"exec garnome-session" statement in my .xinitrc but that didn't work.
