I have this problem when compiling gst-plugins-0.6.2 in hacking-0.26.0

and i have no ideas about what is causing this error.
i have plenty of ram (768M) so i dont think this is memory related, but
maybe an obscure max_process_memory_size (if it exists) lying somewhere
in /proc ...
system is debian-sid
athlon 1.4 (tbird) 768M
gcc --version
gcc (GCC) 3.3.1 (Debian)
binutils 2.14.90.0.5-0.2
