Not sure if all people in this thread are having this same problem, but
it might very well be true. Pango is complaining that it doesn't find
any fonts. Try running fc-cache as root on your system. fc-cache is a
program built by GARNOME, so it is in your ~/garnome/bin directory.

You might want to set your LD_LIBRARY_PATH environment variable to be
able to run fc-cache.
