sound config

Hello,

Garnome has not been coming with properly configured sound
since I first tried it at version 0.7.x.
I should subtext that by saying that I am building on
an up to date debian testing box, following the howto
on the garnome homepage, although I have done some stuff
in the gdm configs to get it to show up on the gdm menu.
I can't specify, since my box is at home, in windows.
Anyways,
would someone be glad to send me some pointers or pointers
to pointers on setup?
I have done the obligatory 15 minutes of google, searching
"garnome sound" and "monkey sound" and "garnome sound setup",
etc. with so far no promising results, as well as searching the
garnome list archives which were vacant to a surprising degree,
given the size of the last list digest.  I searched them on
the gnome.org site.

I suspect I am going to heare something like "read the source, luke :)"

"Are we there yet?  Is it done yet?"

Btw, I may have already sent this message, but it didn't show up
