compiled as root

Hello, everybody!
My garnome 0.10.1 works fine.
I noly feel a bit uncomfortable, because I compiled it as root, thinking
this would possibly be needed.
The result is X11 restarts when I try to login as another user.
Is there a solution, or must I recompile for every user?
