This has recently (i.e. two days ago) been fixed in CVS as part of the
work to allow aisleriot to be resized. The cards now sit further apart
so you can see the suit. I'll backport this to 2.6 if I can convince
myself that there aren't going to be too many problems with card running
off the bottom of the window (the card resizing code makes this
irrelevant, but it will be an issue for 2.6).

Working on spider.scm shouldn't present any problems, but if you are
doing anything that involves moving the scheme/C interface could you
work with the CVS version of aisleriot because there is a good chance
that what you are working on is also being altered by me for the
resizing code and it is best to keep in sync. I look forward to the
results.
Also, things that are essentially bug reports should go in bugzilla.
Bugzilla is also a nice place to put patches since it is easier for me
to keep track of them (unfortunately I don't look at them any quicker,
but I don't loose them).
