New database files available

Hi Everyone,

I've uploaded new US database files to the fplan web site. They
were converted from the National Airspace Data files effective 30 Dec,
1999. I have made all the required modifications to the avdbtools
conversion software to support the format of the raw data files from
the NASD CD-ROM. The documentation needs to be fixed to reflect these
changes, so the new release of avdbtools will be delayed for another
week or two depending on my time budget.

It's too bad that the NASD data isn't available free of charge,
but I'm happy that the major data issues are resolved and the
availability situation seems to have finally stabilized. With all
those pesky details behind us, I'm looking forward to moving ahead
with meaningful development. I hope to fix some of the internal data
structures (moving to all dynamic memory allocation for starters),
and maybe implementing the "winds aloft" command for the next fplan
release. Any other ideas???

Regards, John
