Richard never said anything about the real problem in this case however
which is "If you wish to contribute to this specific Gnome project item
sign over your code to us"

That is what is wrong. If you make the gnome cvs version seperate and
also containing GPL only contributions from members who do not wish to
let Novell sell their code in proprietary form to people and get no
reward back then the problem goes away.
