If I recall correctly, the term 'vendor' only appears currently in the
gnomeversion.xml file, and is not visible to the user anywhere.
The contents of the <vendor>foo</vendor> tag appears as:
The fact that the tag is not visible to the user makes the issue
less important, but we have seen it still can cause confusion.
Renaming it to "distributor" can't hurt.
