F-Spot fails to read EXIF dates

Hello,
  I'm importing all my photos collection in F-Spot to see if I can use
to better organize them.

  I have a problem importing many of them becaus F-Spot doesn't read
the EXIF dates and sees them as if they were taken today. I know the
dates are there because both nautilus and the command line utilities
(exif and exiftags) can display them.

  I suspect the problem might be caused by iPhoto, because those
pictures have been downloaded from the camera with it, but still,
other programs can read the dates. I also tried fixing them with the
exiftime utility, with no luck.
