I've filed a feature request for the issue you describe.  It also happens with Gallery1 btw.

rotated before upload. Granted you can rotate the photos in Gallery2, but
it would be nice not to have to futz with it as it is particularly slow in
Gallery2.

Kudos to the developers though. I came from a Mac and iPhoto...f-spot is
an easy transition.
