Hi, e-contact.c initializes gettext, but it doesn't force strings to be in UTF-8. As a result, if you are using the iso8859-1 charset and try to use the French translation, the strings translated in libebook won't be properly converted to UTF-8 before being passed to gtk+ functions, so they won't be displayed properly. I filed bug #71116 about that issue, and you can find a patch at http://bugzilla.ximian.com/showattachment.cgi?attach_id=13686 I removed the textdomain call since it's not present in the libraries I looked in, and I assumed libebook is an actual shared lib.
