this is not needed indeed, the default calendar is the one selected, the
create_ecal is the one used by the calendar component to create new
events, which usually will be the same as the default one, but not
always.

Apart from that, i dont see how this fixes #300432, since creating
events via a script does not go via the calendar-component code. Do we
have a copy of that script to see what it does?
