The immediate problem is that for the contacts source you want the user 
to be able to set the color, but really don't want the user to change 
any of the other properties (type, name, url, etc) or to be able to 
write events to it.

Deletion of the entire source is quite another thing.

Sounds like the field is being used for both right now...
