Yeah, this should have been in since 1.4.0...
I agree, it will be pretty useless to have this in 1.4.6 (if it still
could go in before release).
However, at least the next major version 2.0 should resolve this issue.
Not all users (especially large user pools) do upgrade every version.
Thus there probably will be users upgrading from 1.2.x to 2.0. Would be
good, if at least 2.0 users can upgrade without annoyances.
