[evolution-patches] Re: Anna, Help!

Hi, Anna

Sorry, I suspect I didn't express my question clearly. I'm seeking suggestions on the shortcut keys which can be pressed directly rather than the accelerator
keys in the menus. Would you please give some advice on the former?

Regards
Kidd

Hi Kidd!
My advice is that you emulate the behavior of 1.5.

So, use:
"_D" for "Day View"
"_W" for "Work Week View"
"_e" for "Week View"
"_M" for "Month View".

I hope this helps you! Remember that within a submenu, the only
accelerators you need to worry about conflicting with are those in the
submenu.

cheers,
Anna

Hi, Anna

I have some problems when I'm fixing #45331 since I have to pick out
four accelerator keys that are both intuitive to users and free of confilcts.
Enclosed are the discussions between Rodrigo and me and we didn't get
any result yet.

I wonder whether you would like to give me some suggestions. Thanks.

Hi,

Enclosed is a patch to fix # 45331. The original proposal picked up
Ctrl+Alt +D/W/K/M as the accelerator keys to switch between the
four views. As far as I know, that may result in conflicts because
Ctrl+Alt +D is used to display the desktop under Redhat Linux.
Therefor we select Ctrl+Shift+Alt+D/W/K/M instead.

ctrl+alt+shift sounds also bad to me :-) Why not use shift+ctrl, like we
do for many keybindings in the mailer?

cheers

I don't think Shift+Ctrl is a good candidate here. As you can see when you open
the submenu File->New, there are already too many accelerator keys using it.
If we insist using Shift+Ctrl, I'm afraid the accelerator keys won't be intuitive.
What do you think, Rodrigo?

not sure, I'd prefer the UI team to decide.
