"retract"? deleting packages from rce is a bad idea in general.
Reversing patches has nothing to do with rce.

I don't really know how much work is needed to make them happen. I
submitted a snapshot job for redhat-73 [1], and it looks like at the
very least I'll need to get newer autotools on it [2]. This could be a
minor hurdle, though, it's hard to tell.
(1.4 btw, not head, might have to verify the patch goes on 1.4 cleanly i didn't have a 1.4 environment going well enough to write it)
How important is this? I'll probably have some time tomorrow, but if
it spills over into next week I'll have to reschedule some stuff (which
is possible, I think, if this is important).
Seems pretty important to the guys at largo, with a large multi-user installation becoming uncomfortable to use for still-yet-unknown reasons. But I guess its in Ettore's court as to how much time you might want to spend on it.
